Discover the Westchester Dance Academy Dance Team: Where Passion Meets Performance
At Westchester Dance Academy (WDA), we’re all about helping young dancers unlock their full potential. For those looking to take their love of dance to the next level, the WDA Dance Team is the perfect place to train, perform, and grow. With dancers ranging from ages 5 to 18, our team is more than just a group of talented individuals—it’s a family where friendships are made, confidence is built, and a passion for dance is shared.
Our WDA Dance Team members train 4 to 6 hours a week, working diligently to improve their technique, artistry, and performance skills. While the annual recital is a highlight, our dancers love to showcase their talents year-round, competing locally and performing beyond the studio stage. Being part of this team means gaining valuable experience in a supportive and motivating environment, all while having fun and developing lifelong friendships.
The WDA Dance Team is structured to meet the needs of every dancer, from beginners to more advanced students. Here’s a closer look at the different groups that make up our incredible team:
Super Tots Dance Team (Ages 4-6)
Our youngest dancers start here! The Super Tots train for 3 hours a week, taking classes in ballet, jazz, and tap while rehearsing for performances. It’s the perfect introduction to dance for little ones, fostering creativity and movement in a joyful and nurturing environment. These dancers learn the basics of technique while developing their love for the art form.
Small Fry Dance Team (Ages 5-8)
The Small Fry dancers are ready for more! With 4 hours of weekly training, they take a mix of ballet, jazz, and tap, as well as rehearsal time. This program introduces more structure while maintaining a fun and engaging atmosphere. Dancers build their skills in multiple styles and gain valuable stage experience through local competitions and performances.
Mini/Petite Dance Team (Ages 7-12)
The Mini and Petite dancers are passionate and ready to push themselves further. These dancers train 4 hours a week in a variety of styles including ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical. Their classes, held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, combine technical training with performance rehearsals. The Mini/Petite team focuses on refining technique and preparing for competitive performances.
Teen Dance Team (Ages 12-18)
Our Teen Dance Team is where dedication and artistry truly shine. These dancers commit to 6 hours of training each week, mastering a mix of ballet, lyrical, jazz, contemporary, and leap + turn classes. With classes held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the Teen Team is focused on achieving excellence both technically and artistically. They compete regularly and perform throughout the year, representing the WDA Dance Team with pride.
